I am sure that many of us remember exactly where we were 12 years ago TODAY. You have these memories just like you have the remembrance of a birth of a child, a death of a loved one or a special time in your life. Today I want to reflect on my personal memory of that day as well as help those who are still hurting as a result of loss of that day.
On this day I was at the bank when I heard about the first plane and then the TV was on and I saw the second plane hit and I started thinking ” hmmmm what is going on with those planes?” I then started thinking about how close we lived to New York and whether this might be an attack of some sort and I was driving in my car talking to my mother and the plane hit at the Pentagon. I was startled and immediately went to my parents house to be with family. At that time I was not married and had no children. My mother and I tried to call her brother who although had retired from working at the WTC still went everyday to the Bowery to minister to the persons suffering from Alcoholism. We could not reach him and we began to pray because we knew if he was down there he was trying to help save lives. We finally reached him and he said ” today I just wasn’t feeling good so I did not go today but I really want to go now and pray with people.”
Fast Forward: Today I have two beautiful children, girl and boy. Both of my parents are still alive and suffering a few health challenges but pressing on and my uncle who suffered lung cancer since that time still goes to the Bowery at the WTC area but not every day. I am thankful for this gift called ” Life”. I continue to pray for those that are still suffering from their loss of a loved one and I pray for their healing today. We are all still here because there is GREATNESS in each and everyone of us. You may not be where you want to be but you are not where you were 12 years ago. Lest we forget……
